MelRose and The Passion For Webcamming

Webcamming is a new art; something that has not truly understood. Most people see the women and men that do it as a sort of ‘object’ where they can just marvel and what they are showing on the screen. Yet, most of these webcam models are much more than just ‘objects’ and most are actually successful entrepreneurs that have used the success from their webcams to create an independent life for themselves. One woman has been exemplifying this trait. Her name is MelRose Michaels (@melrosemichaels) and she has dominated the webcam/ OnlyFan space by being one of the top webcam models in the world. Yet, she never had an easy childhood but that never stopped her from keeping on the track for success.

I know a lot of you are tuning in because you’re wondering why I started webcam in the first place. Half out of sympathy, because you think I’m some sad naive girl that must’ve been in a tough situation and I saw this as her way out. The other bunch of you probably think it was strictly about the money. Some are already theorizing that I’ve got far reaching daddy issues that prompted this career path, and the rest have already written me off as a ‘whore’ which is easiest really, because it demands no actual meaning or explanation. Let me assure you, some of you, are “somewhat” right.

Is that not clear enough? Let me explain. I grew up poor. My mom and dad divorced when I was 8 and all of a sudden, my life was upside down. I woke up thinking my family was intact and when I was picked up from school that day, the car my mom picked me up in was full of our belongings, and the home she took me to, a completely new one. Divorce is hard on kids. I’m probably not an exception. My parents would fight over the phone pretty constantly. My dad, who had cheated on my mother, on more than one occasion, was not happy that my mom had left. And knowing my mom and her attitude, since it’s so much like my own, I guarantee she didn’t make this divorce easy on him either. My dad isn’t a bad person though. It took me a lot of years to be able to say that statement. Immediately after the divorce, my father moved to Ohio to be with his new girlfriend, and would drive into Chicago every other weekend, pick me up, and take me to his house in Ohio. That’s 14hrs a weekend for at least 5 years. Because around 8th grade I just stopped going. I didn’t have a life out there really, or friends. My life was at home, with my mom, in Chicago. And eventually after I canceled so many trips to see my father, he just stopped calling. While that was hard on me and my journey through life was definitely affected, it was something helped guide me to be the successful person that I am today.
